Regent’s Park, Consett – Reclamation, infrastructure and plot substructure works – Phase One
Scope of works:
The Regent’s Park scheme at Berry Edge in Consett, involved reclamation and development of part of the Former Consett Steelworks Site for the construction of 480 homes (including 30 bungalows for Durham Aged Miners Homes Association) and associated infrastructure in the form of groundworks, drainage, foundations and external works (gardens, flagging).
Phase 1 of the scheme required the reclamation, regrading, reprocessing, testing and compacting of material to a required specification in order to provide a building platform.
Absolute Civil Engineering excavated circa 130,000 cubic metres of earth to three metres below the proposed finished level. Crushing and screening material to a specified engineered fill.
Work started in April 2014 and was completed by mid-March 2015.
