Genesis Circle – Another project in the ongoing regeneration of the former Consett steelworks site takes one more step towards completion.
The Genesis Circle, an 18 metre diameter COR-TEN and mild steel structure that forms a key feature in Consett’s Fawcett Park, has been winched into position with Absolute Civil Engineering personnel on site to oversee the installation of this important public artwork.
Five panels weighing a ton each are placed in a circular formation at the west section of the park which also links the popular C2C cycle route.
The artwork has been designed by Cumbrian based artist Chris Brammall who specialises in sculptural and architectural metalwork.
Special paving and a purpose-built centrepiece will finish off the feature in time for the official opening of the urban park in Spring 2014.
